Below is the step-by-step procedure to get this done without breaking any sweat. Kindly, take not that the service code or short code is going to work for all networks in Ghana.

  1. Dial *929# (All Networks)
  2. Select Option 2 (Renew Membership)
  3. Select Option 1 (NHIS Card) You can select Ghana Card if it’s linked
  4. Proceed by entering your NHIS Membership Number. Mostly 8 digits (39….67)
  5. Confirm the Validity of your Name etc… then continue
  6. You will then be given the cost of your renewal, Proceed and make payment by entering your momo pin.
  7. If the renewal is successful, you will receive an alert from Momo and NHIS.

Steps to check your NHIS Membership Validity

  1. Dial *929# – (All Networks)
  2. Choose Option 1 (Check Policy Validity)
  3. Select NHIS Card
  4. Enter Your Membership Number.

NB: Renewals, done after three (3) months of expiry, will take another one month before it becomes valid to use. This simply means, if your insurance expires, and you do not renew it within the next three months. You will have to wait for an additional one month when you renew your it.

Sometimes, it will work instantly after renewal even if your card has expired more than three months or years, this happens only if NHIS is offering a promotion. And this happens during X-mas etc…
